Piedmont Geriatric Hospital is recruiting for LPNs (ALL SHIFTS), to provide direct nursing care under the supervision of an RN to geropsychiatric patients in a hospital setting; to be proficient in medication and treatment administration. When assigned to work evening and night shift, is responsible for unit operations and supervision of HSCWs in the absence of a unit RN. Requires current LPN licensure through the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
Valid Virginia Drivers License
Knowledge general nursing, gerontology, techniques of behavior management, applied pharmacology as related to elderly patients with chronic medical conditions and mental disorders, infection control practices, and CPR.
Skills bedside nursing, patient observation, communication, verbal and written, basic management and supervisory skills, and problem-solving.
Abilities to get along with people, to organize own work, to administer medications to large group of patients, and to understand and follow complex procedures involved in patient care, and to adapt to change.
Walking and/or standing for up to 8 hours or more; bending and lifting, transporting patients in geri chairs and wheelchairs; working shift work; working overtime hours or shifts as required. Moving patients with aid of mechanical devices. May be exposed to aggressive psychogeriatric patients.Preferred Qualifications
General nursing experience preferred.Special Requirements
