This position will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and administrative support to the Institute for Drug & Alcohol Studies and the Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research. The business specialist will provide specialized support to the research clinic and administrative offices by greeting visitors and managing all aspects of participant compensation. They will also serve as the departmental purchaser, travel coordinator, building manager, and fixed asset custodian.Minimum Hiring Standards
The ideal candidate will meet the following minimum qualifications:
Ability to perform a variety of duties related to administrative and fiscal support.
Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting principles.
Ability to work with and account for large amounts of cash.
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong organizational skills, and excellent attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task work, work independently and take initiative when required.
Ability to handle confidential information, exercise sound judgment and work in a diverse environment.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
In addition to the minimum qualifications the ideal candidate will also meet the following preferred qualifications:
Knowledge of ChromeRiver and Christopherson.
Experience with RealSource and Banner.
Familiarity with University and State procurement regulations and VCU travel policies.
Experience with bank reconciliations.
Supplemental education in bookkeeping/accounting.
