Position Description


Valiant Integrated Services is seeking a candidate to fill a Senior Network Engineer position on the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Training Systems Support (MTSS) multiple award task order contract (MATOC) to support the MAGTF Staff Training Program (MSTP) task order. This key role is a senior member of an Information Technology (IT) team of professionals involving Systems, Server, Virtualization, Storage, and Database Administrators and Engineers responsible for providing enterprise network solutions for Marine Corps, DoD and international partners at CONUS and OCONUS sites.

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide senior level Network and Unified Communications (UC) / Real Time Services (RTS) engineering and leadership support for a United States Marine Corps customer, to include planning, design, documentation, installation, configuration, testing, operation, and maintenance to support day‐to‐day operations and exercises, training events, and wargames. The MSTP program supports the full lifecycle of system planning, acquisition, implementation, operations, enhancement, sustainment, and retirement of IT systems, data, infrastructure, and security services.

Work with the IT Branch Head, Information Systems Security Officer, and customer stakeholders to ensure operational excellence and delivery across the organization.

JOB DUTIES, TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create (new) and/or modify (existing), and maintain operations, maintenance, installation, and training instructions for communications networks
  • Plan, configure, test, deploy, troubleshoot and maintain Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs)
  • Design, install, operate and maintain network boundary defense, monitoring tools, and firewalls on and between different security or network enclaves
  • Develop and implement Quality of Service (QoS) statements to improve overall network performance of telephony and computer networks
  • Provide COMSEC material support by receiving, couriering, storing, installing, operating, and protecting classified KEYMAT
  • Design, install, and configure: VoIP technologies; Video Teleconferencing (VTC) technologies; unclassified and classified web conferencing capabilities; extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) and Internet Relay Chat (IRC) chat servers and client application software
  • Integrate voice, video, Web and other real‐time services, to support collaborative planning and meetings between multiple sites and organizations
  • Coordinate contract support and maintenance of audio‐visual systems
  • Communicate with stakeholders and team members. Report on the status, issues, key activities and any changes to projects. Proactively identify and communicate project risks to ensure the customer can address those risks ostensibly through our recommendations
  • Collaborate across the organization to integrate and harmonize the IT deployment and support of IT services
  • Develop technology roadmaps that accurately represent the current and upcoming IT requirements
  • Track and report response times, availability, and the uptime of routers, switches, and other Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) enabled devices
  • Install, operate, and maintain Government provided network monitoring such as Orion Networking Performance Monitoring 10.6.1 software (Solar Winds) to monitor, detect, diagnose, and resolve performance issues before outages occur
  • Develops network maps, dashboards, alerts, and reports
  • Conduct pre‐event testing and evaluation to identify, locate, and resolve network failures to optimize network performance
  • Develop and maintain cross‐boundary network solutions (e.g., firewalls, access control lists, etc.) between multiple networks or enclaves of various Mission Assurance Categories (MAC) and classification levels to enable the controlled interconnection of training systems, experimental systems, domain services, or coalition partners with MSTP or training audience networks
  • Monitor logs for firewalls and intrusion detection systems
  • Develop a conceptual solution architecture using a combination of Microsoft technologies and selected third party products to produce an end to end solution that is stable, resilient and performant
  • Lead efforts across subject matter experts in various technical domains to ensure overall integrity and consistency of the proposed solutions
  • Lead strategic architectural planning to achieve goals by prioritizing initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment and management of current and future state architectures
  • Review and analyze the current technology architecture
  • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 5 years of recent hands on experience within Marine Corps or DoD agencies in network engineering, architecture design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise datacenters, systems, sites and services, and infrastructure projects with advanced level experience with at least two of the following: EIGRP, MPLS, BGP, VOIP, QoS, and OSPF
  • Enterprise architecture design and implementation expertise in Cisco network infrastructure, CUCM, IM&P, storage area network systems, and Solar Winds
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP network technologies; DNS, DHCP, TFTP, NAT, and SSL
  • Advanced level experience with at least two of the following: EIGRP, MPLS, BGP, VOIP, QoS, and OSPF
  • Working technical knowledge of network switching protocols (STP, CDP, and LLDP); TCP/IP networks and standards (IEEE 802.1).
  • Familiar with network topologies such as MPLS, Frame Relay, ATM, and ISDN
  • Solid understanding of OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Experience with cabling and wiring systems, fiber infrastructure; configuring and troubleshooting Business Edition Servers, Meeting Servers, Cisco IPsec (AES 256), ASA Firewalls, Firepower Management Servers, IPS, route-maps, and ACLs
  • Working knowledge of DoD STIGs, and IA Vulnerability Management (IAVM)
  • Experience performing infrastructure enhancement planning and execution
  • POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification
  • Possess an Active Security Clearance with a completed SSBI investigation that will qualify to be eligible for access to at least the Secret level, and the ability to be read-in for NATO level access
  • Must meet DoD 8570.1‐M Information Assurance workforce program requirements for Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II or higher
  • Must possess and maintain training and certifications sufficient to be granted privileged access to Marine Corps information technology (IT) and information systems (IS) through documented completion of required training and certification
  • Potential CONUS and OCONUS travel for up to four weeks at a time (or longer), thus the need for a valid US Passport
